Crafted from the prized Mi Lan Xiang (Honey Orchid Aroma) cultivar, this Dancong Hong Cha is a rare black tea from the legendary Fenghuang (Phoenix) Mountains in Guangdong Province. While Dancong teas are typically processed as oolongs, this unique version is oxidized into a full-bodied black tea, offering a rich new expression of the Mi Lan Xiang leaf.
Grown at elevations around 1200 meters in mineral-rich soil, the tea benefits from the region’s misty climate and centuries of tea-making tradition. The Mi Lan Xiang cultivar is known for its naturally fragrant leaves, and in black tea form, it transforms into a brew that is both floral and deeply sweet.
Expect a bright amber liquor with intense notes of lychee, honey, and tropical fruit, balanced by a touch of malt and orchid-like florals. The mouthfeel is silky-smooth, with a long, lingering finish that echoes the tea’s mountain origin.
Hand-harvested and carefully processed, this Dancong Hong Cha is a rare and elegant twist on traditional Phoenix Mountain tea — ideal for those who appreciate both the aromatic complexity of Dancong and the bold sweetness of fine Chinese black tea.
